The idea : An inner city residency, from 15th February until 15th March 2009, co-realized with the Joubert Park Project, an artists collective based in the area.
L'idée : Une résidence dans le centre ville, du 15 fevrier au 15 mars 2009, coréalisée avec le Joubert Park Project, un collectif d'artistes basé dans le quartier.
The participants : 20 invited artists, writers and performers, mainly from the African continent (DRC, Mozambique, Nigeria, Benin, South Africa, Algeria...), with selected artists from Europ.
Les participants : 20 artistes invités, écrivains et performers, principalement du continent africain (RDCongo, Mozambique,Nigeria, Benin, Afrique du Sud, Algérie...), avec quelques artistes européens. 
The project : A one month residency, in the eastern part of inner city Johannesburg - with the boundaries drawn around the Drill Hall Joubert Park and Doornfontein ; for participants to live and work in the inner city and connect with resident people and spaces, especially the Congolese, Mozambican, Zimbabwean and Eritrean communities; to develop site-specific projects within the frame of the residency.
Le projet : Une résidence d'une durée d'un mois, dans la partie est du centre ville de Johannesburg - dans un périmètre dessiné autour du Drill Hall, Joubert Park et Doornfontein ; pour les participants, vivre et travailler dans le quartier en relation avec les habitants et les espaces, particulièrement les communautés congolaises, Mozambicaines, Zimbabweenes et Erythréenes ; développer des projets "in situ" dans le cadre de la résidence ; présenter leur travail dans différents lieux, à destination du public.
Finale : for participants to present their work/process/concepts over a 6 day presentation period, from the 10th to the 15th of March.
But : pour les participants, développer des projets dans différents lieux et présenter leurs travaux/processus/concepts lors d'une période de 6 jours de présentations, du 10 au 15 mars.
Locations : an empty cinema, a radio station, an open square, a playground, a communal taxi rank, a heritage site, local gyms and bars..
Lieux : un cinéma vide, une station de radio, un square ouvert, une esplanade, une station de taxis communale, un site historique, des bars et gyms locaux...
Process : Research into the area will take place prior to the residency, with the aim to establish anchor - points and local networks before the residency begins : this will provide information and orientation for artists prior to their arrival; artists will be paired with assistants who know the local context and can act as guides/facilitators.
Processus : une recherche dans le quartier qui aura lieu avant la résidence, avec l'idée d'établir des points de repères, et des réseaux locaux avant que la résidence ne commence : cela donnera des informations et orientations aux artistes avant leur arrivée ; les artistes travailleront avec des assistants qui connaissent le contexte local et peuvent servir de guides.
